From the Fall of 1977 to the Fall of 1981, I stood in the student section of the football stadium at the University of Notre Dame and 32 years later, I am a huge fan of my Fighting Irish football team.
They play today vs. Rice, at 3:30PM Eastern Time on NBC.
I graduated from the University of Notre Dame in May of 1982 with a degree in Marketing. Marketing has changed a lot but I kept learning more and more. (And today I’m an award-winning marketing expert with over 6,000 Twitter foilowers.)
I also returned in 2012 for my 30th reunion, which was a great experience! The Golden Dome looked like this right outside my window!
Imagine what my life was like, watching Hall of Fame QB Joe Montana in his senior year. Looking outside the stadium to see Touchdown Jesus. And seeing Moses signal number one with his right index finger - right outside the stadium. We also had one of the very best middle linebackers in Notre Dame history, Bob Crable, who later played for the New York Jets.
One time my brother, Mark, visited and I sneaked him into the student section. He had attended Indiana University, which has a great basketball tradition, but not football. He, like me was standing on the wooden bleachers. Mark said “When do we sit down, Jeff?” I replied, “Mark, you are in the Notre Dame student section. You don’t sit down at all.”
We like to say that other schools give 4 year degrees, but Notre Dame gives 40 year degrees!
Today, since the nicest company in B2B marketing today, Find New Customers, moved to the Tampa/St. Petersburg area, I will be joining fellow Domers from the Notre Dame Club of Greater Tampa Bay to watch the game. Some things never die.
Because it’s a 3 day weekend, this blog is on vacation till Tuesday. And don’t miss the next post, with some invaluable info for job-seekers.
