With sales struggling to uncover qualified sales opportunities, this great white paper is your lifeline.
âSo much has been written about B2B demand generation, but Ogden makes it simple - which makes it a must-readâ - the Funnelholic
How to Find New Customers is the popular white paper on B2B demand generation. Originally sponsored by Marketo, we no longer share information with them. The editor of this white paper is a well-known sales expert and author - so it is very well-written indeed.

While you are at it, why donât you visit Find New Customers to get some of our other free content on B2B marketing and demand generation too?
What do you think? We love to read your comments and appreciate those who share on social media too.
They use an economy of words and engage the reader with very simple messages.
We as marketers can learn from this. Here are four key marketing lessons we all can embrace.
Simplify your messages
Use few words and make your messaging crystal clear. Make your key message instantly recognizable. Take the shears to your website.
Reduce the friction
Donât make the user fill out a long form. Just get an email address.
Follow up quickly
Once theyâve signed up, donât drop the ball. Let them know you are on their side from the very beginning.
Show, donât tell
Use interactive videos and customer stories to explain your story.

Jeff Ogden of Find New Customers is proud to be a three time winner of the prestigious SLMA marketing award, voted annually by peers and run by the Sales Lead Management Association.
Why do marketing awards matter? As one top marketing expert once told me âYouâre not an expert when you say you are. Youâre only an expert when other people say you are.â Amen. Iâm humbled and honored to have won these votes.
Watch this video please. My 17 year old son made it for me.
After reading the great post by Sonia at Copyblogger âWhy Your Copy Isnât Convertingâ I wanted to share it with you.
Weâve had a steady stream of top content marketing experts on Marketing Made Simple TV, such as Joe Pulizzi of the Content Marketing Institute, Jon Wuebben, author of Content is Currency, and Jay Baer of ConvinceandConvert.com on the show.
Content marketing is SO important today, that I want to share some insights with you.
Content marketing feeds the beast of B2B demand generation, plain and simple. Want to set up lead nurturing? You need content. Want to create PPC ads? You need content to offer in those ads. Content feeds marketing.
Here are the five reasons from the Copyblogger post:
They donât want what youâve got
You might be passionate about your products and services, but buyers could care less. As David Meerman Scott said so eloquently âNo one cares about your products and services except y0u.â This is also why quality buyer personas are so important. One of the Five Rings of Insight is Priority Initiatives - what are the buyer investing time, money and political capital in?
Theyâre confused
The confused mind does not buy. Offer too many options or use goobbledy gook words and you get not even a nibble on your hook.
They canât see the pretty picture
If the buyer cannot see herself using your product, all is lost. She must be able to visualize using the product. Make the benefits of using it crystal clear in the simplest language possible.
You didnât ask
This one is Soniaâs favorite, but the simple fact is that âClick Hereâ gets clicked a LOT. You need a simple Call to Action on each thing you do.
They donât believe you
Despite your best efforts, the buyer is second-guessing himself. He does not want to look foolish. I also think it is wise to feature happy, smiling customers on your website too.
What do you think? We love comments and those who share on social media too.
Jeff Ogden is an award-winning marketing expert and President of the nicest company in B2B marketing today, Find New Customers. Heâs also the creator and host of the popular and syndicated show, Marketing Made Simple TV.
There is no business undergoing as rapid change as TV is today
Just look at what I now watch on TV - my top three shows:
Justified
The Walking Dead
House of Cards
Of those, two are on cable TV and one, House of Cards, is online only.
No, I could not care less about silly dramas like Scandal or bubble gum TV shows like Dancing with the Stars. No offense to their many fans, but I like shows with deep and complex characters and a plot with twists and turns.
In addition to crappy shows, Network TV is a vast wasteland of âin your faceâ TV ads for mainly cars, insurance and pharmaceutical products. (That Nissan commercial of the car driving on top of a train is about the most moronic commercial I have ever seen. Do you really have to tell us this is a fantasy?)
And how many times can I watch a GEICO ad till Iâm ready to vomit? The pig is cute but he grows tiresome from overuse too.
I know you have a huge marketing budget, GEICO, but canât you find something else to do?
Since those commercials are so repetitive and mind-numbing, we DVR shows whenever possible and skip through those God-awful commercials.
The killer app in TV is sports, plain and simple. Sports compels the viewer to sit down and actually watch.
March Madness will be huge in the fast-changing world of television.
Monday to Friday, Iâm the President of the nicest company in B2B marketing today, Find New Customers. But not on the weekends.

Let me take you behind the scenes to share what really happens on this great online TV show. By the way, we changed our theme to Piano Black. What do you think of it?
A ton of experience and planning went into creating this process.
While I started by hosting Mad Marketing TV for Act-On Software, Iâve made huge strides with the follow-on show, Marketing Made Simple TV.
First, we book a great guest, like the author and keynote speaker, Bryan Kramer.
Then our partner Watchitoo does a technical test to ensure everything is working properly - we need bandwidth, good lighting and a good webcam.
We do a quick pre-show planning call with the guest to ensure weâre on the same page, discussing topics such as:
Logistics - what happens when you log in
Show Objectives - my vision for the show
B Roll - slides and images
Call to Action
Topics and Questions
We record the show. Craig Yaris of Social Ribbit directs - handling all the camera changes and B roll content. But Craig is off-screen during the show..
(We just started having our guests record intros and outros for their shows, which will make for a much better show.)
I log back in to Watchitoo and download the recorded video to my computer.
I edit the video using Sony Vegas. I remove the gaps and insert the intro and outro.
Thanks to Watchitoo, it takes less than 10 minutes to edit a video. Since they have a great TV on the Web platform, little edit is needed..
The edited video is rendered. That takes about an hour or two.
The finished video is reviewed for quality, and then uploaded to YouTube. Â (We now have hundreds of YouTube videos.)
We take the YouTube link and then we log into Viewbix.and create a new Player.
Viewbix is the tool we use to add the Call to Action and gate the show and to get around the limitations of Youtube.
Fortunately, Viewbix offers great capabilities around gating. For instance, we can let the viewer watch X seconds of the show before we prompt for an email address.
We also add the twitter id for the show guest too, such as @bryankramer.
Finally, we grab the embed code from Viewbix and post it to Marketing Made Simple TV. Â We schedule the post for a Thursday at noon ET and we also update the guest list at Marketing Made Simple TV.
When the appointed time arrives, we grab the link and share with the guest in a ârelease the houndsâ email. The guest shares it with his or her team for promotion.
I then share the link with the Twitter Mafia - the team of like-minded marketing experts who help each other. Itâs then all over social media.
We then wait for 13 days before syndicating the show - to avoid duplicate content issues.
We then post the show to Business2Community.com, SocialMediaToday.com, CustomerThink.com, and LinkedIn group. Â We also share it with CMO.com and DemandGen Report. And it gets promoted again.
That is how we do this popular syndicated show.

That comment came from Adele Revella of the Buyer Persona Institute.
Joe Pulizzi of the Content Marketing Institute said in his book Epic Content Marketing that âaudience personasâ are critical to content marketing (Chapter 10- The Audience Persona)
Both Joe and Adele are right. To create great content, you MUST have a deep understanding of your buyers!
What do you need to learn? I recommend Adeleâs 5 Rings of Insight
Priority Initiatives - Where is the buyer dedicating time, budget or political capital, regardless of your product or service?
Success Factors - What do your prospective buyers identify as the rewards of success?
Perceived Barriers - What personal or business obstacles could interfere with their chances of success?
Buyers Journey - How does the buyer identify alternative solutions, weigh his or her options and arrive at a decision?
Decision Criteria - How does the buyer arrive at a decision from his or her alternative solutions?
Getting answers to those five Rings of Insights requires open-ended interviews with recent buyers. Unless you are comfortable doing those kinds of interviews, I suggest you leave them to trained professionals.
Simply sending out a survey is NOT good enough, because you have to predefine questions in a survey. Buyer personas reveal the unexpected.
To learn about the Buyer Persona services offered by Find New Customers, please visit Get Better Results - Get to Know Your Buyers with Buyer Personas. By the way, I also completed the Buyer Persona Master Class at the Buyer Persona Institute, so I do have expertise here.
