This post published today at 8:46am, precisely 10 years after the moment the first plane struck the North tower of the World Trade Center.

On September 11, 2001, Jeff (Now President of Find New Customers) was handling GE for Business Objects and was crossing the Throgs Neck Bridge on his way to a meeting at General Electric in Stamford, CT when he saw the first tower burning. The plane in this photo had hit about 15 minutes earlier.

A trail of black smoke streamed south seemingly forever across a crystal clear blue sky. (I remember that day vividly - a crystall clear deep blue sky.) He called his wife to tell her to turn on the TV ASAP. Something incredible was happening.

He had no idea how terrible that day would become. Firefighters and Police Officers with blackened faces - struggling with incompatible radios - running into a building minutes from collapse and tenants jumping from top floors to their deaths to avoid the flames. So many innocent people lost their lives that day. (2,996 people, as per Wikipedia.)

It’s still deeply disturbing today - ten years after.
