“At Hubspot, we have many blog creators. The fact that one person creates so many great articles so quickly is nothing short of incredible.” says Mike Volpe, VP of Marketing, Hubspot
(The demand generation guru and President of Fun (and Find New Customers), Fearless Competitor will appear LIVE on HubspotTV on November 19th at 4:00pm ET too.)
Most bloggers crank out maybe one per week or two.
Fearless Competitor (BtoB marketing and demand generation) and B2B Sales Lounge (sales) by OneSource are popular blogs which run 5 days per week (or more).
As many say, Google loves frequently updated blogs and readers love consistency too.
What they have in common is that both are written by just one person, the Fearless Competitor. Without question, that means that the Fearless Competitor is virtually without peer in the blogging world.
Here are a couple of interesting statistics on Fearless Competitor.
- Unique readers to date for FearlessCompetitor.net- 32,901+ (as of last evening.)
- Ratio of comments to posts - 72%. (most blogs posts have zero comments. We have nearly as many blog comments as we have posts.)
Here are 5 keys to this remarkable productivity:
- Lessons for blog articles are all around you. Just look for them.
TV shows, sporting events, meetings, books - there is no shortage of inspiration. Find the story in everything around you. But you will only find it if you are looking for it.
- Create regular, recurring events
For me, it’s Laugh and Learn with the Fearless Competitor. A video show every Friday, it’s easy and quick to do, yet this recurring post occupies 20% of my content needs.
- Study other blogs
Use Google Reader to read blogs. You find lots of great ideas and posts. You can reuse others posts, but you must give full credit and hook to the Permalink in the original post.
- Use images and lists
Here’s one of my rules. No post goes out without a good image. Use Flicker, iStockPhoto, etc. Search for “creative commons.”
Bulleted and numbered lists are good too.
- Mix short and long - text, audio and video.
You don’t have to write War and Peace. (People don’t like to read long blog posts.) So mix it up - some short and some long - some video and some slideshare. I see too many blogs with long article after long article. This is, IMHO, one of the worst offenses out there.
What do you think? What are the keys to blog production for you? How do you keep up with blogging demands? We love your comments and also when you share our content on social networks. Thank you!
