The Power of Inbound Marketing - My Visit to HubSpot

Last week I had the distinct pleasure in visiting a company I hold in very high regard. HubSpot, a Cambridge, MA provider of software for small and midsized companies is one of the savviest marketing companies on Earth.

Special Note: I’m the special guest on HubSpotTV on November 19th from 4:00pm to 4:30pm ET. You can attend in person at 25 First Street in Cambridge or visit www.hubspot.tv to watch online during the show or later on YouTube.

My host was Mike Volpe, Vice President of Marketing. He was gracious and took me on a nice tour. But while I was there, Mike said “Jeff, Kirsten wants to meet you.” (I had no idea who Kirsten was.)

Suddenly a very tall and attractive women walks in to Mike’s office. She said “Hi Jeff. I’ve been reading your blog (Fearless Competitor) for months and I LOVE it. It’s a terrific blog.”

Wow! Here is an avid reader and I didn’t even know it. I jumped up and gave her a big hug. (Love my readers!)

Therein lies the power of inbound marketing. After months of publishing great content, when smart people you’ve never met become big fans - that is inbound marketing at its finest.

What do you think? Have you had similar experiences? We love comments and people who share our content.
